These images are trying to tell the story of a man who inspired the ideas of experimental architecture. His name was Lebbeus Woods and he spoke about exploring new possibilities with experimental architecture. The Images are Deconstructivist. I wanted to create a building that has similar qualities to imply unpredictability and to help students experience these ideas in such structure. The second image from the left represents the wounds of old buildings or abandoned buildings who have been left to rot. In Red Hook you could find many abandonded buildings to be old and damaged. This design will speak of the old structures and the patching of the wounds. I want to heal the area with this new building and evolve the ideas and view of this part of Brooklyn into something interesting that could pose questions like "What if ?" and to get the people involved in the Architecture of the area as a whole and to express individual healing to the remaining buildings of Red Hook.
The pictures look painful, what are you trying to convey here?
ReplyDeleteThe Pictures are painful because they represent the decay of architecture, the forgetfulness, the destruction buildings may face due to war. The destruction they must endure before someone notices its in need of repair. The Buildings in Red Hook are in need of repair and I want to inspire this idea into the peoples mind though this new building i will be creating there. it will almost infect the idea into the neighborhood and hopefully inspire change.
